How does one look approachable in the gym?

This transformation has an important message behind it that I want to share. 💛
This client came to me, wanting to lean out her legs and change the shape of them which she has always struggled with. Obviously she was already very lean and fit, but she was just self conscious about her legs and couldn’t understand why they never changed.
She avoided training too much legs to avoid them getting bulky and ate low calories because she was scared of building muscle.
I put her on a plan with 3 x leg days a week, with higher calories on leg days to help push her training intensity higher so we could build some more lower body muscle and recompose her legs. I started her calories much higher than she had been eating previously too, and much less cardio.
Naturally she was terrified- this was so different to what she’s done before. Yet I reminded her that what she’s been doing wasn’t working, so give it a go and if it’s not working we can change it.
So she gave it a go. A few weeks in she was astounded by the progress she was making. Every week she says she is so glad she trusted me and trusted the process despite being skeptical at the start, because she is finally seeing changes in her legs across these 4 months after years of nothing!
The important message here it that don’t get stuck in your comfort zone if it’s not working. Trust in your coach and give their method a go, even if it’s unfamiliar to you. Because if your current approach isn’t working, it’s not just going to magically start working. Debunk your beliefs that more weights = bulky, or more food = more body fat. Sometimes this is what you need to actually see progress !

I am not a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding is something

I am not a bodybuilder.
Bodybuilding is something that I do.
There are so many other things that I am, that are infinitely more important and enduring.
It’s important that we seperate who we ARE from what we DO. The same goes for your job. Your job is what you do, it’s not who you are.
We can’t tie our identity to something that we do- because then if we no longer do that for whatever reason, we lose our sense of self-worth.
Have a think about this question.
Who ARE you? Answer it without listing things you do.
Some examples: A friend, a sister, a daughter, a lover, a free spirit, a source of positivity to others, an optimist, a leader?
If you feel lost between seasons or that you constantly need to be competing- remember, competing is a hobby, a passion, for some it’s a career. But our careers and hobbies are not our identity. We are multifaceted human beings.
What are you going to be doing 10 years from now if you neglect all the other things in life for a sport or a job with an expiration date?

You can’t suffer through something you chose freely to do. It will be uncomfortable, it will be intense, but the emotion you attach to that pain is your choice.
