Growth is on the other side of discomfort 🦋
Training a muscle in the gym is uncomfortable because it burns, but it won’t grow unless you push through that pain. 🏋️‍♀️
Going to therapy is uncomfortable because it digs up your deep wounds, but you won’t move past them unless you confront them.🥲
Training your cardio fitness is uncomfortable because it gets hard to breathe when you’re at your threshold, but you won’t improve unless you lean into that discomfort.🫀
Opening your heart to a person is uncomfortable, because of the risk that they could break it. But if you don’t learn to be vulnerable with others, you’ll never experience the magic that comes with forming deep connections.💕
Whether it’s in your training or in life, throwing yourself head first into discomfort is what will take you to the next level, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

A lot of you probably see me as a very structured

A lot of you probably see me as a very structured and routine person. I suppose that’s part and parcel of managing running a business, competing in bikini comps, studying, teaching etc! You’re never going to have optimal time management without structure and routine.
Lately, you’ve probably seen me sharing more of my social, free spirited and playful side online. 🦋
This is a part of me that sometimes I lose touch with, when I’m hardcore in a bodybuilding zone, or working round the clock. It’s also a part of me that I didn’t always feel comfortable showing on a ‘business’ page, in case it comes across as unprofessional. It was instilled from the get-go to me, that in starting a business I would have to work hard to be taken seriously as a young, smiley blonde girl (🤦‍♀️ ugh, but that stuck with me). But I decided to start showing more of my personal life, to prove that you CAN be both of these things at once. 💛
My main goal for 2022 isn’t some sort of measurable achievement. My main goal is to stay in touch with my playful side while simultaneously getting sh*t done in business, competing, and all the other buckets I dip my toes in. Because if you fall too far to one side of the spectrum, you create imbalance. ⚖️
You can be professional and playful.
You can be structured and free.
You can be routine and spontaneous.
You can be whatever you want to be. 🦋

Understanding and pinpointing your fertile window

Understanding and pinpointing your fertile window is key to preventing pregnancy naturally (or, to increasing your chances of conceiving!).
The fertile window is essentially the period of time where you can fall pregnant. It is a 6 day period that reflects the lifespan of sperm (5 days) and an egg (24 hours). This means for the 5 days prior to your ovulation, and the 24 hours following your ovulation you should use protection if you don’t want to fall pregnant.
However, it is important to remember that not every woman ovulates on Day 14 (the standard used when we refer to a 28 day cycle), and our cycles are not always perfectly regularly every month.
For this reason, pinpointing ovulation and understand your own unique patterns is key to knowing where the fertile window sits FOR YOU.
So how can we pinpoint ovulation?
🔺 Track your basal body temp with an under the tongue thermometer. Typically BBT rises by 0.3 degrees Celsius when you ovulate. If this remains elevated for 3 or more days, you have likely ovulated(I used this until I was confident in knowing when my body ovulates via other cues)
🔺Track your cervical output. Swipe across to see changes in cervical output that can indicate ovulation.
🔺Subtract 14 days from the length of your cycle for and APPROXIMATE ovulation day. Eg if you have a 32 day cycle you will likely ovulate around day 18. This is not a perfect science, but can help in addition to the above measures.
🔺 Take an LH Test daily around ovulation (from pharmacy) to pinpoint your peak of luteinising hormone. LH peaks 8-20 hours prior to ovulation.
Many women nowadays are stepping away from hormonal contraceptives in favour of this natural method, now that we have a better understanding of our bodies than ever before. It is important to remember that when pinpointing ovulation, there is room for error and so always err on the side of caution and give yourself a few days either side of your individual predicted window if you want to avoid pregnancy.
